LINE OF DEFENCE
Meet the everyday men and women who
look after our city and work hard to retain
Canberra's reputation for being a safe and
clean place to live.
There is a buzzing energy that starts
to build across Canberra this time
of year as Christmas holidays and
sun-flled, relaxing days draw near.
As the mercury climbs, the CBD
bursts into a kaleidoscope of colour
and is an exciting and vibrant place to be.
We thought the season of festive cheer was
the ideal time to celebrate the entrepreneurs,
saviours, and down-to-earth people whose
dedication and ingenuity continues to diversify
the heart of the nation’s capital – its CBD.
Change is a big theme as Canberra clocks over
to 101-years-old with a variety of refurbishments
and new developments served up in large or
small portions across the city.
New restaurants and bars are popping up all
over the cityscape, providing a buffet of choices
for eager diners and even more reasons for new
visitors to discover the culinary and cultural
pleasures the city has to offer.
NewActon continues to blossom with the
outdoor cinema, A.Baker and Bicicletta at the
Diamant Hotel sure to be city hot spots this
summer. Parlour Bar rose from the ashes this
month and it joins an abundance of new eateries
prospering in the CBD.
The multi-million dollar renovations at the
North Quarter food court at the Canberra Centre
add another layer of glamour to the iconic
establishment and foodies eagerly anticipated the
opening of Jamie’s Italian this month.
Upgrades to the city's green spaces has also
revitalised the city’s spark while Braddon’s
burgeoning retail, residential and dining scene is
a great draw card for the CBD.
These are just some of the changes that are
helping Canberrans to fall in love with the city
all over again or perhaps discover it for the frst
This season is shaping up to be one of style,
celebration and fun.
Record crowds are expected to visit the National
Multicultural Festival in February, gathering to
experience cuisine, entertainment and products
from across the globe.
There is enough to keep the little ones occupied
throughout the holidays but older generations
haven’t been forgotten, with an abundance of
senior-friendly activities available as well.
This summer, Canberra’s CBD will delight as
you immerse yourself in the lively atmosphere

Bogojevic says the show was a life
changing experience that will stay with
"There are no words to describe how
amazing and what a whirlwind the whole
experience on Australia's Next Top Model
was. It has given me so much insight,
knowledge and even more appreciation
of the modelling industry," Bogojevic says.
The 18-year-old beauty with an infectious
personality says that over the time she
was on the show, her love for modelling,
fashion and acting grew beyond any
"It has assured me that this is the industry
think that is important at this age; to know
your goals and which direction you want
to work towards," she says.
And that's exactly what the year 12
Canberra Girls Grammar student is doing.
Bogojevic says now that the show is over,
she plans to concentrate on her final
studies and then make a move to the big
city to pursue her modelling career and
put all that she's learned to practice.
"Education has always been a priority for
my family and I, so I really want to give
these last couple of days 100 per cent and
then purely focus on my career the year
after when I make the move to Sydney,"
"I want to put my education on hold for a
year and give modelling a proper go, but
nothing is set in stone yet."
