There is sometimes confusion between
the work of Canberra CBD Ltd and that
of the ACT government. The commercial
property owners in the CBD pay a levy
to the ACT government which is then
returned to Canberra CBD Ltd in the form
of the City Centre Marketing and Improvements Grant.
Through the grant, City property owners are
directly funding a variety of activities and capital
works which have already and continue to make
the city a better place for the current generation and
future generations. This grant was recently renewed
to June, 30, 2015, and over the next three years, we
look forward to building upon our foundations with
new projects to continually improve the city centre of
Summer 2012 will see a new event in Canberra,

In The City, Christmas Carnival In The City is a
completely free event spanning 12 days from Monday,
December 10, to Friday, December 21.
Christmas Carnival In The City delivers seven
different activities, including camel rides, rock
climbing, bungee run and bungee trampoline, kidz
gym, water balls and water bumper cars.
Located across Civic Square, Ainslie Honour Walk,
City Walk and Garema Place, all these activities also

has recently been taken over by new operators.

Canberra CBD Ltd is a major supporter of the
Centenary of Canberra. There are three key City
events that form the nucleus of the sponsorship.
We Built This City in Civic Square involves building
a city out of cardboard boxes and then tearing it
down and there will be two events in Glebe Park.
The Village is a gorgeous assembly of tents, caravans
and buses, puppet booths and inflatables developed
around the concept of an old European village, and
Century of Play, coinciding with Children's Week
2013, includes innovative arts activities and theatre
performances by local theatre groups. For more
information on each of these unique events visit the
Centenary website at canberra100.com.au
Our new London Circuit Pocket Park is well under
construction and is scheduled for completion in
December. The next task is a name for this new park.
Another newcomer to the city is the Canberra
International Electric Vehicle Festival being held
on Saturday, December 1, in City Walk and Ainslie
Avenue. This popular event has relocated from the
West Lawns of Old Parliament House. It features
exhibits and activities including electric vehicle
infrastructure and services; commercially available
production electric vehicle including cars, motor
bikes and personal mobility vehicles; electric vehicle
conversions; electric vehicle related sustainable
development; electric vehicle technology research
and development and historical vehicles. Test drives
