The sun is shining, the weather is balmy and it’s time
for Canberrans to awake from their wintry slumber
and experience summer in the City.

the festive season at the Lighting of the Christmas Tree.

Gather with friends and family at CIT Reid on
Constitution Avenue this Saturday where the
battle against mental illness, Urban Polaris and
Metro 2010, will kick off again. Organised by the Mental
Health Foundation to raise money for the cause, this
seven-hour biking adventure will see teams of two and
family groups navigate around a section of Canberra
to various checkpoints to gather as many points as
possible. The map and the value of each checkpoint
won’t be revealed until the day, making this both a test
of speed and the ultimate battle of wits. Riders can be
serious, and attempt to garner all of the points on the
course, or more casual and elect to visit as many cafes
along the way as they can. Don’t miss the barbecue on
offer at the CIT headquarters – visit the website www.
urbanpolaris.org.au for up-to-date information.
